Native Plant Patrol

The Point Lobos Native Plant Patrol meets the 2nd and 4th Friday from 9 am – 1 pm. We are a volunteer group that works to restore native habitats in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Activities change every week but may include: weeding invasive species, seed collecting, planting, etc.

No experience necessary; wear protective clothing (there will be poison oak!), bring water and a snack. Gloves and tools are provided. We will work rain or shine but end early if conditions are particularly unpleasant. Contact Julia Fields for more information and to RSVP (

Directions: Take Highway 1 South past Carmel. Continue to the turnoff on the right for Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. When entering the Reserve, let the kiosk attendant know you are volunteering with the Point Lobos Foundation. Enter the Reserve and turn left down the service road opposite the turn to Whaler’s Cove. Park and meet at the Rat Hill parking area to gather tools and carpool to the work site.”
